Food Music chiefs Kry Wolf (Bill Francis and Lewis Darvill) are making a much anticipated homecoming to their label with the ‘Nightmode’ EP – a release of truly epic proportions.
Rapidly becoming recognised as one of the UK’s most exciting underground acts, Kry Wolf have lived up to their reputation with an outstanding flair for production; a distinctively creative and diverse sound that’s been woven through consistently strong releases.
While raising the bar with tracks like ‘Turbosteppa’, the smash tech house cut they co-produced with Claude Von Stroke last year, the duo have also been behind what some say are among the greatest parties ever thrown on the south coast of the UK, promoted through their über brand, Sumo. Alongside Food Music, this label has championed some of the freshest new talent, demonstrating that Kry Wolf they’ve got their ear firmly to the ground.
The Nightmode EP hasn’t been released just yet, but the previews, which have been up on Soundcloud for a couple of weeks now, have been generating quite a stir.
First up on the EP is the title track, ‘Nightmode’, a sub-heavy house cut of the highest order. It’s a weighty, yet refined, deep production that has “future classic” written all over it. Track 2 brings a sophisticated, sassy piano house groover with ‘U Like’, sure to raise a smile and get the dancefloor shaking. Wrapping things up on track 3 is Pedestrian, AKA Jack Sibley, who delivers a tougher, rougher re-work of ‘Nightmode’. The bassline on this one is something else!
In fact, not a lot says “bass” quite as clearly as the release in general. Make sure your speakers are capable of a decent low end if you’re going to have a listen. Menacing and heavy, I can hear these tracks being played at underground warehouse parties already! Brace yourselves – this first-rate EP is due for release on October 20th.
