Kiesza – ‘Hideaway’ (Gorgon City Remix)

Anything that’s been featured on Pop Justice is not usually something I’d touch with a barge pole; but if it’s good enough for Gorgon City, it’s damn well good enough for me. From prima ballerina to disco diva, Kiesza’s making waves in all different directions with ‘Hideaway’: The road we like the most? The deep house route.

Take two relatively modest DJs from different backgrounds – one from an impressive yet under-appreciated dubstep background, the other from the premature death of fidget. Rack n’ Ruin and Foamo got into the studio together several years ago to experiment with a genre nobody could have expected to come so far so soon. Since forming Gorgon City, the duo have graced some of the biggest stages on the festival circuit, featured on MTV and are regulars on the Annie Mac playlist. They appear to be unstoppable, so what’s to stop them remixing a pop track? Absolutely nothing.

Rack n’ Ruin’s love for dubstep can be heard in the Gorgon City release ‘The truth’ featuring Janai. Well worth a listen to get that feel of the background he’s come from. The thing about Rack n’ Ruin (and Foamo for that matter) is that they never made a bad track. Ever. They’ve crossed genres more times than Germany crossed borders circa 1939 and they’ve done it with such attention to detail and unadulterated knowledge that nobody can curse them for it.
