Hijinkx – ‘What I Feel For You’ (inc. exclusive free mix)

Making its debut with the captivating ‘What I Feel For You’ EP, Foreign Language Records presents Hijinkx, AKA James Stanley, a 22-year-old musician currently studying at The University of Leeds.

With a raft of singles and popular free downloads already under his belt, Hijinkx has gathered something a following, but is now headed for bigger things following the release of this solid EP. Not only that, but it comes with the promise of numerous forthcoming records imminent on “reputable labels”.

It’s been said that James’ eclectic taste and passion for electronic music is evident by his song selection when performing live as a DJ; and when listening to this EP, it certainly shines through in his pallet of sounds as he shows off his bass-lead, categorically dancefloor orientated style of house music.

Released earlier this week, ‘What I Feel For You’ compiles four tracks, all of which have been written and produced solely by James. Although each of the tracks was completed within the past 6 months, it wasn’t with the intention of releasing them collectively as an EP. Only after experimenting with a broader array of unreleased material did James release that the four tracks came together in the way a true EP should.

‘What I feel for you’ was in fact the last of the four tracks to be written, but with the catchy vocal hook and strong minor chord progression, he felt it would be the best track to lead what is a fairly diverse release. A limited edition vinyl run of ‘What I Feel For You’ is due sometime in June.

Furthermore, to celebrate the release of the EP, Foreign Language Records’ Jack Shields has put together an exclusive DJ mix for The Noise Gate, which you can stream or download from the player, below. Jack comments: “The track list is comprised of songs on our label, songs that have inspired the label and songs we just really like at the moment. Since this is our first release, we want to give people an idea of what kind of direction the label is heading in.”
