Last month Dub Phizix dropped the first release on his recently founded label Senka Sonic, the ‘Buffalo Charge / Bounce’ EP.
One of the most exciting drum and bass producers to come out of Manny in recent times, Dub Phizix’ productions continually look outside the box and deliver a fresh and innovative twist on your standard jump up beat. Whilst drum and bass can at times feel like a slightly played-out genre, he always knows how to mix it up and this new release certainly attests. Joined for a feature on the A-side by Broke’n’£nglish emcee Strategy, who is equally no messer and delivers a tight vocal, ‘Buffalo Charge’ is one of our favourite tracks of the year.
Both tunes on the release are massive. ‘Buffalo Charge’ has been doing the rounds for a while: appearing repeatedly this summer on the international festival circuit, popping up on Friction’s radio show and getting further traction from a fair few heads in Manchester – pretty much sending ravers crazy all over the place! On the flip, ‘Bounce’ delivers what it says on the tin with whirring electrified synths, driving bass, spicy mids and a cheeky vocal clip, which drops in to reinforce the track’s message at all the right moments.
‘Buffallo / Bounce’ is out now on Dub Phizix’s new Senka Sonic label. Pick up your copy here and check the video below: think lip-syncing Bufallo with nineties hairstyles!
