If like me you’re into bangin’ future house, then you’re gonna wanna know about this spicy, deep burrito with extra jackamolé.
‘Bounce’ is the latest EP from enigmatic producer Bellavoid. Yet another geezer to have a go at reinventing himself with a different name leaving all us house heads playing a game of musical Guess Who.
We’ve already covered Weiss, Mineo and Aden on here, not to mention our Do I Know You? feature but it’s getting hard to keep up with the rate these guys are crawling out the woodwork like fitties when the sun comes out. The Bounce EP is four mint chewns of the hardest, muscle-flexin’ garage, house and bass hybrid sounds about.
The first shrimp on the barbie is ‘Bounce’, which from the first bar is a jackmatic beat cruncher like a Mr Oizo track after a back-to-back protein shakes. A quality tune I’ve been twatting at the gym all week. ‘Seriously’ is another belter from Bellavoid (Spanish for ‘beautiful hole’). It’s got a different vibe from both the tracks it’s sandwiched between like a little pickle on a Big Mac. My mate Andy reckons it’s “kettier” than the other two but that’s just his way of explaining the more thoughtful and nuanced (thanks Kate) synths and pads in the clear-outs. The bass line is meatier than a rhino on GHB, kicking arse like John Prescott with a knuckle duster.
Last on the agenda is a proper little bender. By bender of course I’m on about the way it makes your body move. Suspiciously similar to ‘Jack’ by Ben Westbeech with that same absolute lob-on of a bass, ‘Dancer to the Death’ is a class track at least on a par with its soundalike. The vocal drifts in and out like the memories of conversations from the night before with girls in vests with little things stuck to their foreheads. The whole EP is perfectly assembled, like a cross-trainer at Virgin Active. It’ll have your hands and feet shuffling back and forth, bang on time from start to finish without just looking like a complete knob at the gym.
