‘Crazzzy’, the new release from Grammy nominated DJ and producer Todd Terry sees a fantastic new remix from Toolroom’s talented producer and DJ Jamie K.
K has already made his mark amongst the world’s dance scene and is now signed to some of the biggest record labels such as 303lovers and InStereo. 2007 saw the start of Jamie’s musical career where he performed his first DJ set at the world famous Ministry of Sound London. Being a DJ was not quite enough however, and it was only a matter of time before production became a natural addiction. Jamie K was born.
K’s remake of ‘Crazzzy’ comes as a timely reminder as to what we have loved about 2014 House records: the intensely dynamic bass lines, expert vocal manipulations and those addicting domineering synth leads.
Whilst upholding the main bass line and synths that we hear in the original track, the remix is brimming with K’s own tasteful twists, an example being in the stripped down section at 2.36. This blissfully isolated section makes the following endeavour into a “club music” scene a few seconds later all the more welcome as it comes unexpectedly.
K delves us into old school House with those few moments of nostalgia-inducing chime-like synths he uses here. A short but ridiculously sweet section, K then takes us back to the original synth loop. This is where you easily become hooked on his genius style his crafty control and manipulation of the main key characteristic of ‘Crazzzy’ demonstrate how well he works as a producer. K has taken what makes ‘Crazzzy’ stand out and made it his own, all in just a short section of the track.
Jamie K’s take on ‘Crazzzy’ is another example of House music we know and love today but with much more to offer because of its lasting impression on us, which comes exclusively from K’s unique style and skills he puts into in his work. If this is what we can expect more of in 2015 from Jamie K then it’s going to be a great year for House music!
