Good guy Mosca has been working hard this year, and he’s definitely not to be confused with the garbage that is Moska. EDM jokes aside, the self-proclaimed “I don’t put out enough tracks” man, has been putting out quite a few good tracks on his own imprint Not So Much.
I say good guy Mosca because I remember back in 2011 when he hit 5000 followers on Facebook, he gave out a free EP with some pretty sweet tracks (check out ‘The Way We Were’ with its awesome underground house nod to the equally impressive first Wu-Tang Clan album). Now it’s 2014 and he’s completely smashed his previous years out of the water.
Despite his humble self saying he still feels like the new guy in music, when you look at his record it’s pretty impressive to say the least. There’s been a varied mix of awesome music released on stalwart labels like Numbers, Night Slugs, Hypercolour and 3024, he’s now on 30,000+ fans on FB, he’s toured all over and if you’ve had the chance to see him DJ you’ll be aware that he knows how to twist the crowd! Now sticking true to his word that he will get better at releasing more music, his own Not So Much label – launched earlier this year – has come into sync with that very statement.
So when I said he’s been bringing out a few good tracks, you can tell that Mosca has been concentrating on his music, this year he’s brought out two quality releases on Not So Much, both of which are deeply in favour of underground house and techno. The first release ‘No Splice No Playback’ features Suckle (Twenties) – which was a big jam on the summer circuit, and of course has received rave reviews.
The second release on his own label came out a little over a month ago and ‘The Greyhounds / Clinical Trial’ EP is another belter! Two completely different tracks, ‘Greyhounds’ is this spacey house track with loads of cool layers, and ‘Clinical Trial’ is the beasty techno track that packs a punch, both of which have got support from a lot of notable people in the music world, so as the last rays of sun vanish far, far away from Manchester, get some Mosca on to warm up those winter boots.
