Varysoo – ‘In The Clearing’ EP

Stepping up for London & Leeds based Bade Records’ third release is Stuttgart man Varysoo, who gives us an absolute belter with ‘In The Clearing’.

True to German form, Varysoo’s production sees a pulsing melody and electric rhythm that tunnels its way through nearly ten minutes of pure techno! The track’s banging pace (and the fact that it’s darker than the black hole Tesco’s profits have been lost in) mean it works well clubs too. Not surprising then that the initial release has gotten everyone you’d want on board supporting it!

Not one to falter then, Varysoo’s release sees three talented producers on three completely different sounding remixes. Which can only attest to ‘In The Clearing’ having some really great core elements and why it’s being so well received.

With two EP’s already under his belt, man of the moment Dahu takes a break from working on his forthcoming ‘Sedated’ EP (out in December) to provide us with his own reworked version of ‘In The Clearing’. This remix has been in everyone’s mixes, and for good reason: the Steyoyoke main stay whips up a beast for us to see what his sound is all about. Sirens blazing, bass pounding, Dahu leaves no one safe from harm when this gets dropped.

Kris Davis’ version starts out instantly eerie and is certainly another well crafted remix, completely turning the track on its head, half way through breaking it down slowly before the introduction of an ominous sounding wave, which could easily have been mistaken for a monster crawling out of your speakers! Not long after you’ve brought yourself round a clever little drop ensues and the track’s original melody comes back again with a vengeance.

The Italian don Fedele has also provided a restructured and chopped up version of ‘In The Clearing’. Showing us yet again how a track can change shape and form, this one is a little more sonic sounding if anything else but still utterly shape-shifted from the original.
