Upcoming Releases: Keep your ears peeled!

Time once more to look what sonic objects are causing the biggest blips on TNG’s Upcoming Releases radar. If it’s Free Tracks or Fresh Out the Gate releases you’re after, you know where to go.

Darius Syrossian links up with Sidney Charles for ‘Another 5 Hours’ – the first preview leaked “as part of a package that will feature 15 unreleased totally new productions” from the prolific, Leeds DJ/producer. The title alludes to the pair’s “infamous five hour back-to-back set back in January at Sankeys Manchester,” according to Darius’ Soundcloud page.

He went on to talk about the influence that night had on the production of Another 5 Hours, saying there are “clips of that party here” and that “the crowd was unreal. If you went, massive thanks from myself and Sidney.” Synth stabs hype the track nicely and make way for a signature Syrossian groove, added with Sidney Charles’ influence felt in the pitched-down hip hop chops lacing the rhythm.

Our surprise package comes as Frankee weighs in with two polar opposites on RAM Records. ‘Gully’ is a what-the-fuck kinda cut, and comes in like a T-Rex roar on a Commodore 64. Gully is crunching, lo-fi drum and bass compressed into a super-hype breakbeat with mega-distorted vocals. A fully loco yet addictive sonic assault. ‘Away’ comes in to add a perfect balance to the 12″ with a smooth, euphoric DnB dub that soothes the mind and eases the chaos that Gully burst through the door with. Out on the 24th, Frankee and Gully come highly recommended

Janis drops the ‘Parental Advisory House’ EP via House Is OK at the end of March. Available on 12″ and digitally, the title track is a cheeky little mover with off-key synth stabs and FX’d up vocal cuts. Sweden’s Kornél Kovács comes up with a remix that sounds to us like a more direct mix of Roy Davis Jnr’s garage jam ‘Gabrielle’; but that’s definitely a plus in our eyes. The two remaining tracks are originals from Janis. ‘Ensoniq Youth’ is a fresh yet dreamy meandering. The track brings in an electric guitar towards the back end that should be so wrong but it feels so right. ‘Fitzefu Pumpkin’ goes off on a similar tangent to Ensoniq Youth but madder. Comparable to sucking a lime, it’s proper juicy but has your face pulling some funky shapes.

On the 21st of this month is the second release on DJ Q’s Q Recordings after debuting with a PVC EP that saw support from the likes of Rosca and Todd Edwards. Arun Verone’s reputation is building up nicely with releases on Inner City Records and House Entertainment and now a deep quartet of bottom-heavy UK bass. A mix of contemporary house and garage, our pick of which is the title track, ‘This Is It (Get Together)’. The VIP is on par. ‘The Coming (Keep It Coming)’ has a similar feel with added vocal snips.

Elsewhere we’ve got a release on Sydney-based label Deep House Aficionado. Jason Mitchell’s ‘Up and In’ EP features a deep, uptempo original from the Australian producer and two quality remixes from Demarkus Lewis and Clitterhouse. All-in-all a tidy little three-tracker. Ivan Latyshev drops the ‘Simple Minds’ EP on What’s In the Box Records that includes a banging Giom remix of the title track definitely worth a peek. Sinnmusic give us a healthy dose of acid by way of Roman Mühlschlegel – the three tracks are as outrageous as the name. The Mühlschlegel drops the ‘Cloudy Business’ EP on the 31st. Analog basslines and profound-sounding vocal samples drive Mühlschlegel’s solo efforts while a collabo with Gustl heads off in a deeper direction. Indulge and enjoy…
