This weekend sees Coventry Cathedral host Ruins, a brand-new open air house music event aimed at providing the city with the best in the genre.
Taking place on July 30, between 4pm and 1am, the event will be the first time a dance or house event has been held in the city’s Cathedral.
On announcing the event, organisers promised “five huge names”, and it’s safe to say they didn’t disappoint.
Headlining the event will be none other than Bristol’s own (and a Noise Gate favourite), Eats Everything. Few artists have made such an impressive impact in the world of dance music as Dan and few can claim to be as busy. The British DJ and producer has barely stopped working since the release of his classic “Entrance Song” in 2011, and has played across the globe alongside the leading DJs of his generation. His chosen weapons are no secret: elastic beats indebted to funk, dance floor house music in its many forms, and an expansive personality that can clearly be seen in all of his sets. If what you seek is non-stop dancing and abandoning your body to magical rhythms, then his set isn’t one to be missed.
Joining him will be Waff, who over the last two years has become one of the most engaging artists on the international circuit joining the ever popular and influential Hot Creations / Paradise family, several highly commended releases and a residency with Jamie Jones’s ‘already under his belt. As the future offers up a whole world of opportunity, he’s putting his all into creating music of the highest quality, built to unite and excite in equal amounts.
Also on the bill is Sonny Fodera, Lee Walker and Sam Divine. Having played along side the likes of Mark Farina, Derrick Carter, Jay-J, Inland Knights, Audio Jack, James Curd to name a few, Sonny Fodera is renowned for his consistently high quality dj sets. As a producer /remixer, he continues to exploit his raw musical talents and ever expanding skills. He has released on top house labels from Drop Music, Guesthouse, 4Kenzo, Nervous Records and many more and quickly gained support from the industries most respected names.
If you followed dance music closely in 2015, chances are you asked yourself this question: who is Lee Walker? The young Brit burst onto the scene in a way only possible in the digital age, transformed overnight from a bedroom producer into a breakthrough star thanks to a cheeky, off-the-cuff edit of DJ Deeon’s “Freak Like Me.” Within a week of it hitting SoundCloud, someone had filmed Marco Carola playing it in Ibiza, and, more than a million Youtube hits later, you were typing “Lee Walker” into Google.
Long associated with the legendary Defected Records, Sam Divine has come a long way since being a record shop employee having spent the last seven years being a key component to the White Isle’s party scene. Her DJ’ing success has seen her tour throughout Europe as well as Brazil, Chile, Japan and Dominican Republic, with festival highlights including We Are FSTVL (UK) and Pacha Festival (The Netherlands), as well as securing a three year residency at Ushuaia, Ibiza. Without doubt one of the most popular and passionate DJs on the circuit, Sam Divine is a guaranteed floor-filler and party starter.
Early-bird and second release tickets for the event have now sold out, but there are still a handful of standard tickets available here.
