Ahh, at last! We first saw this ETCH refix of SOPHIE’s ‘Lemonade’ pop on on Facebook about a month ago and then quickly disappear, all within 24 hours! So when it appeared in the TNG inbox this morning, great excitement was had by us all!
As you might have seen we’ve been waxing lyrical on sparkly producer of the moment SOPHIE for a while now: talking about the original cut of ‘Lemonade‘ as well as his appearance in LA for Boiler Room TV. With sufficient hype built for both SOPHIE and his latest track ‘Lemonade’, now is the time for remixes. Cue Brighton-based producer ETCH, who steps up his ‘All Toast No Cheese’ refix (which he is also offering as a free download)!
Sounding rather like a chopped and screwed edit, with clear Junglist undertones bubbling beneath those oh-so-familiar scintillating vocal clips, ETCH couples tight swinging rhythms with strong bassy undertones to provide a fresh and meaty rework of the original cut. Eclipsing those jaunty synth assaults that punctuate the initial version, the remix rolls forward on a jungliest vibe with clipped samples layered over the top.
