Plastic People Says Goodbye

One of London’s most iconic and influential clubs closes its doors for good after hosting its last party on Friday. Plastic People, on London’s Curtain Road previously Oxford Street, has been a central part of the dance music scene for the last two decades, with legend Theo Parrish holding long term residency at the much loved venue.

The dimly lit basement and roaring sound system will be missed by many including patrons of the long time standing dubstep night FWD>> and broken beat party Co-Op. In more recent years, it has hosted Floating Points and his You’re A Melody Event countless times, maintaining its popularity on the Shoreditch map.

The final public event took place on Friday, but the night after saw a party dedicated to the friends and family of the club called ‘Last Dance’ which saw several names pay homage to the venue’s celebrated era including Floating Points, Abdul Forsyth, Benny Blanco, Paul Camo and Sean McAuliffe.

The clubs manager, Charlotte Kepel has stated “A fabulous time was had it felt right to move on”.
