The Noise Gate announces first resident DJs

The Noise Gate is throwing some highly inappropriate shapes in celebration of recruiting its first two resident DJs, turntable wizards, Diegetics and Dirty Freud.

Between them they’ll mix up TNG’s fortnightly podcast, which will deliver some absolute weapons-grade tunes directly to your lugholes every other Friday. Make no mistake, these will be the only mixes to don your weekend glad rags to, unless you’re headed to an out-of-town retail park, in which case we suggest you buy a case of blue WKD and tune into Capital FM.

But where did we find this motley pair, you ask? Well…

Fresh from supporting DJ Yoda on his Chop Suey album tour of the UK and Europe, Dirty Freud has headlined alongside the likes of DJ Format, BIA and the Correspondents, scoring gigs at events such as Festival 6, Lovesick and Camden Crawl, and venues including Brixton Jamm, Sankeys, Fac251, Koko and Gorilla. He’s put the final touches on his first film score, curated an album with The Strokes, The Libertines, Get Cape Wear Cape Fly and Reverend and the Makers, while creating original tracks that have grabbed the attention of Manchester dance pioneer, Dave Haslam. DF has also produced remixes for numerous international artists and helped drive the contemporary electro dub sound, receiving airplay on 6 Music, BBC introducing and Amazing Radio.

Diegetics comes to us from one of the World’s leading electronic music production schools, London’s Point Blank, where he studied club and radio work, developing a rare ability to mix any track thrown at him with no shortage of flair. He has gone on to produce mixes for Pioneer DJ Radio, experimenting with every conceivable genre, from disco to grime, both weird and wonderful, with a generous helping of techno and house in between. The high energy sets he posts on Soundcloud have helped generate something of a cult following for the young lad from Essex, and they came out in full support of him when TNG held its DJ Face Off competition on, quite appropriately, Facebook.

So, without further a do, let’s get stuck right into a couple of their recent mixes, while we wait for them to pull out the big guns on parts 1 and 2 of The Noise Gate Podcast Series, which commences next Friday (October 11th) with an explosive first set by Diegetics. “Expect the unexpected,” he says…
