Today is a good day. Maybe not for all the hung-over students who, having been revived from spending a summer at home, have got back into Manchester and just trawled out of bed after drinking £2 double vodka mixers all night, perhaps waking up to something scarier than Apple’s new IOS8 “recently deleted” folder in iPhone photos.
But it is a good day for the new label Peng & Stush, who have just seen their first release hit the stores. It’s early days yet for the London-based outfit but we think promising things lay ahead of them.
It’s this first release from Peng & Stush that has brought our attention to Mojeaux, the equally promising Miami artist who has brought out ‘When I’m Alone’. Now you may be a tad sore-headed, but let the frivolities of last nights antics lay to rest and slap out some deep house, with some funky disco elements poured into for good measure.
Each track is well crafted, and there’s an underlying theme in all of them which is one of late night promiscuous rendezvous. ‘When I’m Alone; is a beaut, but our favourite is the last track ‘Touch’. It has this awesome rhythm and continuity to it, and when the vocals come in… It takes you hook, line and sinker.
The release is out now and we’ve got high hopes for both Peng & Stush and Mojeaux. We’ll be sure to keep an eye on what’s next to come from them! Peng & Stush have another release due next month, which you can check out on their Soundcloud, and Mojeaux also has some wicked free tracks available to download on his page; ‘Slow Sunday’ is a pretty slick one!
Check out the title track below and, if you pick up your own copy of the release, you can cut out the middle man and buy direct from them here.
