Hot on the heels of its boat parties, Love International has today announced the afterparties taking place at Barbarella’s this summer.
For the uninitiated, this is the place everyone now talks about, a setting whose open-aired resplendency is one of the simple elements which when combined make it such an evocative and escapism-inspired place; Funktion One sound, plenty of space to dance, chill out areas, brilliant guests, a large dose of fun and most importantly a like-minded crowd of music lovers from around the world merge together in a sequence of magical parties across the festival.
This summer there are 7 to choose from, with the opening on Wednesday 28th June with Electic Chair and Maurice Fulton and the Unabombers, through to Horse Meat Disco’s all night long sign-off on Tuesday 4th July.
On Thursday 29th June, Futureboogie’s always crazy party sees Gerd Janson, Gatto Fritto and residents Dave Harvey and Christophe on the decks. Friday’s Beats In Space get together features Paranoid London (DJ set), Tim Sweeney, Lauer and Eric Duncan, then The Black Madonna, one of the DJs of the moment, also stars with Beautiful Swimmers at the RA party on Saturday. Craig Richard’s curates his own show with Ben UFO and Call Super on Sunday, and Midland and Ryan Elliot are playing a special back to back set with Percolate on Monday.
Barbarella’s has perhaps become the quintessential definition of Love International, where everyone comes together as one and nothing else really matters. The soundscape segues across everything from house to disco to techno to hands-down classics, fuelled by a rare kind of energy and excitement that only al fresco dancing under the stars can create. It’s a beautiful and vibrant venue in a stunning setting surrounded by pine trees and nestled by the sea, which for a few glorious hours transcends the real world and creates its own magic from the depths of night all the way through to dawn, when the entire club is bathed in the morning’s first golden light. It’s the club all the DJs want to play at – especially from 4am – 6am – and it’s the place everyone flocks to party all the way through to finally see the sun rise. There’s a sense of unity there and that everyone is equal, with the focus only on having the best time possible to some of the world’s leading spinners.
Barbarella’s is regulary compared to Ibiza’s halycon days, its fully open air build redolent of some of that island’s iconic early clubs, and it is Love International which remains pivotal for that recognition. The club has truly come into its own, and this summer’s parties will once again form an essential part of the festival’s enriching experience.
Writsbands which give you access to all shows are still available here.
