Jezus Million – ‘Error’ EP

Boston beatmaker Jezus Million has released the first single from his ‘Error’ EP, entitled ‘Taught To Run’.

The twenty year old producer, who has spent the past year racking up credits and collaborations with the likes of Charli XCX, YADi and Chicago drill rap princess Sasha Go Hard, follows up on his acclaimed ‘Cold Shoulder’ mixtape with a new forthcoming release on UK imprint The Full Hundred.

As the first taste of what’s to come, ’Taught To Run’ gets you excited to hear the rest! Opening with crystallised, intertwining synths; the track builds up slowly with a surging bassline and atmospheric vocal clips. Minimal drum work arrives somewhere around the 1.20 mark, expanding underneath a series of carefully constructed whirring melodics to propel the beat forward into something you’d want to get down to in the club. With it’s icy hip hop beat and deconstructed vocal fragments ‘Taught To Run’ feels darkly intense in some places and wildly uplifting in others.

The rest of the EP continues with two further original cuts, the high-energy ‘If You Forget’ and the heady ‘Exile’, alongside remixes from Magical Mistakes, Patrick Brian and Taquwami. With previous productions drawing praise from the likes of Pitchfork, Noisey, Dazed and FACT (the latter of whom drew favourable comparisons to the creations of Rustie and Two Inch Punch), we feel sure that this one’s going to go down a storm.
