Ifan Dafydd – ‘Eclipse’

Ifan Dafydd – ‘Eclipse’

Following a year of silence from the Welsh producer, Ifan Dafydd returns to the fore with new single ‘Eclipae’, At last, it seems his hiatus is over!

Launching into the limelight in 2011 with the release of his debut single ‘No Good’, which sampled the then recently deceased Amy Winehouse’s ‘You Know I’m No Good’, Ifan captured the hearts and minds of many an electronic music fan with its muted clavi synth, pitch shifting vocals and stirring minor melodics. (The B-side ‘Miranda’ is also a cracker, sampling Usher’s ‘U Remind Me’ to great effect with a sort of snap, crackle and pop beat and flooding piano notes).

With early support from the likes of Giles Peterson, Jamie XX, Oneman and Kutmah, Ifan went on to release the high acclaimed ‘Treehouse’ and ‘To Me’ EPs in 2012. Now, following some time away, he returns to Push and Run records to drop his new and hotly anticipated single ‘Eclipse’.

On ‘Eclipse’ ifan Dafydd builds a funky groove with intricate tribalistic drum patterns and a winding bassline. With the addition of surly violins and some signature chopped-up vocal samples, Ifan creates an energetic house tune brimming with emotional and musical complexity. Each piece of the puzzle fits together and the end result is 100% groovy, melodic and compelling.

Released through Push and Run on December 1st, take a listen to the preview below and pick up your pre-orders here.
