HOT TIP: Teminite

Here at The Noise Gate we’re always here to promote the new sounds you need to hear! Sometimes it’s possible that you, our loyal readers and listeners, come across artists that you probably have never heard of before. Following on from my introductory General J mix, I’ll be shedding some light on my EDM picks for you and unearthing some diamonds in the rough – all currently on the brink of a big break in the EDM world.

From a biographical perspective Teminite is still a relative unknown. However, with the release of his EP ‘Elevate’ two weeks ago now under his belt (and available for free download), the Devon based producer should be receiving some recognition for his work imminently with the likelihood being that this should firmly stamp his mark on the industry. The exposure from YouTube-famous dance group Dragon House using multiple tracks by Teminite, along with the positive reaction from the EDM faithful towards this EP, shows that he is already embarking on the right path to be a breakout artist in the future.

Earlier compositions such as ‘Firepower’ and ‘Shockwave’ already expressed Teminite’s ability to create beastly EDM hits, using sharp distortions, heavy basslines and vocoder effects that are all sandwiched by euphoric synth chords – the latter retrospective of another young producer, Madeon.

The ‘Elevate’ EP displays three tracks of dynamic styles, with the opening title track being more of the usual Teminite sound that his followers are all fond of. While on the other hand song number two ‘Hot Fizz’ creates more of a laid-back approach – a catchy backbeat along with synthesized keys evocative to the classic sounds of the past by the likes of Pegboard Nerds – all in all ‘Hot Fizz’ showcases overtones of an upbeat glitch-hop experience. Closing out the EP, ‘Don’t Stop’ drops an almighty bang of a finale, fuelled by vocal samples, razor sharp drops and syncopated bass rhythms.

Teminite isn’t afraid to experiment either; he has a SoundCloud full of songs from various genres and ranging from Dubstep and Drumstep to Electro House and development EDM niche, Moombahcore. Already with just over nine-thousand followers on his account, we certainly expect this number to rise before 2014 is over!
