Henry Saiz – ‘Love Mythology’ inc. remixes

Natura Sonoris has released the third single from ‘Reality is for those who are not strong enough to confront their dreams’ – the spellbinding debut album by Spanish hotshot, Henry Saiz.

The original track, ‘Love Mythology’, is an expertly-blended cacophony of sounds, from deep to lo-fi and melodic, but it’s a classic vocal house track at heart with something of a European disco vibe. Epic though it was, the arrangement and length of the album version wasn’t ideal from a DJ’s perspective and so, for this release, Henry has delivered a more club-friendly extended version.

That being said, many DJs will still be reluctant to air the track, given it’s overt pop sensibilities, but these guys will be pleased to hear that the new release comes complete with a trio of remixes, all of which are considerably darker and much less mainstream-sounding – keep the original on hand for house parties or road trips, and pick one of the following when in need of a more credible underground interpretation…

Avant-garde Dutch producer, Legowelt’s version is by far the toughest workout among the remixes, with techno kicks and moody industrial sounds among the uplifting atmospherics of the original. Fellow Spanish star, Uner, delivers a more minimal sound initially, with snappy drums and a bouncy, percussive bassline, though the instrumentation in the second half of the track builds from a delicate pads into a multi-layered soundscape of melodies. Visionquest’s Clarian opts for a more rudimentary, bass-heavy approach, with an unmistakable hook.

Support for the release has been massive in recent weeks, with luminaries like Sasha, Joris Voorn, Hot Since 82, Tensnake, Ame, John Digweed, Nick Warren and Maya Jane Coles all giving it a bit of a pounding in their big room sets. As might be expected, the remixes have been getting most of the serious floor action, but outings for the original have also prevailed, demonstrating the underground’s slightly ironic but well-placed appreciation for a 90s vibe.
