Fresh Out the Gate: This week’s new releases

It’s that time of the week to run through the best noise, Fresh Out the Gate.

Say hello to my little friend! Miami’s back with a bang thanks to Patrocle’s latest offering of DTD Records’ so-called ‘Dance Till Death’ series. The Florida-based producer delivers a triple dose of deep and techy house that is just as serious as the rather ominous Dance Till Death moniker suggests.

First on the playlist, ‘Show Me Love’ is a trippy, early-hours belter. Emotive, intangible vocal woahs and murmurs float around the heavy bass in this percussive, groove-ridden track. ‘This Guy’ is another dark, progressive, deep tech house cut, severed from reality by the implacable, pitched-down, hypnotic chatterings. It’s a steady moving, cerebral jam but lacking the drive and groove of our pick of the EP, final track ‘Who Is It?’ What we have here is an absolute chest-thrusting cruiser. Again the pitched-down dialogue adds a serious, sinister tone to a deep and busy rhythm.Overall a well-hung EP of club-ready, heads-down house from the Miami-by-way-of-Eastern-Europe producer.

Next up, Glimpse’s ‘Beretta’ EP is a double-barrelled, sawn-off EP of more groove-heavy house. Top track ‘Beretta’ is lively with a cheeky little demeanour, on the complete opposite end of the scale to Show Me Love in that it’s the kind of chirpy groove that’s all smiles rather than furrowed brows and down-turned, gurn faces.

On the flip, ‘L.E.D.’ don’t mess about and after a little looping, vocal hypement it gets straight down to an expansive, all-conquering jackathon. We love it when a B-side pops up out of nowhere to steal the show and despite the obvious quality of Beretta, L.E.D. is easily the one for us. A big EP featuring probably the track of this week’s Fresh Out The Gate, Beretta is out now via Aus Music

The juiciest names on the bill are those of Carl Cox and Nicole Moudaber (pictured). Their ‘See You Next Tuesday’ EP came out on Mood on Monday and offers two different takes on the title track. The original is a tasty helping of red-raw techno and the ‘Deep MOOD’ mix packing plenty of bounce.

Elsewhere there’s a whopping compilation from Tech You Very Much. The snappily titled ‘Natural Electronical, Vol. 2 (Underground Sounds for Festivals)’ boasts 30 tracks of electronic music. Featuring cuts from names across house, tech and electronica, there’s easily enough quality in there to warrant a quick butchers at the very least. Highlights include Drumcomplex and Roel Salemink’s remix of ‘Emphasis’ and Sergio Fernandez’ ‘Burning Man’.

Another epic compilation now to finish off the round up and that sees Play My Track Record release ‘Pure.5’, 25 tracks of pure techno from the likes of Pig & Dan, Radioslave and Mladen Tomic. Highlights include 2009 classic, ‘Klave’ by Speedy J, Macromism’s ‘Break the Cage’ and Yousef’s ‘Fantasy Drum’.
