‘The Evolution of Western Dance’ – Interactive infographic

In a similar vein to Google’s ‘Music Timeline’, Thomson (yes that’s right the travel company) have shared with us a fascinating infographic.

‘The Evolution of Western Dance Music’ plots the course of music over the last 100 years that gave rise to and continue to influence dance music, as well as how different genres of dance music have in turn spawned or influenced new and more specialised or nuanced members of the dance music family.

The evolution of dance music, like humanity itself, was started in Africa and has spread to the New World and back, and back again, and again and again, because like evolution, music is something that has been intertwined with the human race for thousands of years and so this is a journey that is shared with ours.
