Having firmly placed themselves on The Noise Gate’s radar quite some time ago, Tectonic Sound needs no introduction. All we need to say is f*** Dry January because the self-proclaimed “underground music movement” are kicking things off for 2015 with another debut act, OFF Recordings label head ANDRE CROM.
Having played sold out shows at Booom! Ibiza, EGG, London & Watergate, Berlin over the past few months, it’s now the turn of Sheffield’s Fez Club to host his legendary sound on Friday January 16th.
Crom is a DJ whose sets move fluidly from sleazy deep underground tunes to jacking house to slow-burning groovers. As label manager for OFF Recordings he tries to implement this variety in style as well. But above all, Crom and OFF release music to give people on the dance floor a good time, nothing more and nothing less.
Even as a youngster, living far out in the German countryside, Andre Crom was intrigued by House and Techno as an exciting and irresistible escape from the boring surroundings he faced. Mid- 90’s dance and house left a strong mark on his taste which prevails until today.
This call of music led Andre into a career in electronic music spanning over 10 years – starting out as journalist interviewing heroes like Masters At Work or Mel Cheren of West End Records and continuing as a booker and developing his DJ skills at countless gigs.
It was in 2008 that his career really took off when he moved to Berlin. Since then he has worked full time as a label manager, music producer and DJ.
His label “OFF Recordings” belongs to the most popular imprints of its kind, its releases getting positive feedback and plays from virtually any DJ with a taste for good house music. Crom’s co-productions with Martin Dawson “Gonna Be Alright”, “In the City” or “About You” were instant hits on Decks, Beatport and Resident Advisor as well.
However, Andre Crom’s love for house music becomes most evident at his gigs, playing a mixture of his own productions, hard-to-find old-school gems and carefully picked current releases, always impressive and always 100% focused on the floor. With a CV as good as this guys, his upcoming appearance at Fez isn’t one to be missed.
As usual Andre won’t be alone, with a host of Sheffield honchos set to join him. Denaham Audio, Yakeshi and Tippa are all on the bill and Tectonic Sound chief and DJ, Tippa, has done an exclusive preview mix below.
