Dubstitutes have announced their arrival at NexGen Music by dropping four tracks of amen-heavy drum & bass in the shape of their Fear Nothing EP.
The project is formed of drum & bass veteran Rob Sparx – who has seen some 20 releases on NexGen Music and sister label Migration – and MC Task, and the result is a celebration of the pair’s jungle and ragga influences across four varied but powerful tracks.
Opener ‘Takeover’ marries a catchy vocal hook with liquid-esque vibes, ‘Another Future’ rumbles with dive-bomb bass, ‘Fear Nothing’ gets dark and frenzied and closer ‘Black Rose’ shakes with dub inspiration – and each track is shot through with amen breaks in various stages of deconstruction.
