Gacha seems to lean more towards House and Techno with this release on The Crescent, but he still maintains that unique and delicate approach as he takes this on with his Bakradze alias.
Drum work takes a loose and relaxed form on the opener ‘Letter’ which at first listen would seem rather overt, but it almost gets pushed to the back with the discovery of the pretty evolving keys that circle each individual element. Bakradze’s sound design is absolutely bursting with colour. At its core ‘The Silence Between Me And You Has Never Had Meaning’ is a house record, but it slowly moves away from the norm and morphs itself into the soundtrack of a cosmic wonderland. Flashes of shimmering synthesis and 80’s electro guitar riffs are pleasing on the ear, and the almost EDM-like synth stabs that burst through go some way to fitting into the record. It’s a track that seems to go by quicker than the time it takes to read the title.
It would seem that Bakradze never wants to over-do a particular sound on this EP. There’s a heavy 80’s influence in ‘Kiss Me Again’ that kicks off with an upbeat manner, and just as the track begins to form, a jazzy bassline that’s so smooth I almost slipped out of my chair slides in. It’s these variations, surprises and the constant theme of each record never settling that make the ‘Letter’ EP really stand out.
