Alchemical Disco – ‘Firebird’

Alchemical Disco – ‘Firebird’

Brooklyn based DJ and production duo Alchemical Disco recently released their new track ‘Firebird’, and fiery it is! Rising from the ashes of an imaginary late-night 80’s science fiction film soundtrack, “Firebird” features melodic arpeggios and sweeping analog modular synths that build up into an epic crescendo.

The kick is what keeps the track pumping and moving forward throughout with a consistent four on the floor beat. However it’s the Dutch-style synths that have you hooked. The repetitive yet addicting riff takes you back to old school dance music with a forgiving nostalgic push.

The DJ duo is influenced by the likes of Deadmau5 and Eric Prydz, something we witness within their trance synth leads and sizzling drum fills. However their individuality flares with ease in this track as they follow in the wake of their recent success with ‘Atomic’, which reached number 23 on Beatport’s Top 100 Electro House Releases.

The stabbing bass we hear brimming below the beat plays a large role in keeping the suspense, while also giving us this acceptably aged sound Alchemical Disco are aiming for here. The bass is so simple throughout, yet perfect for the piece, as it creeps in just after the intro and keeps a good build on the track.

The arppegiated lead synth attracts our ears with a perplexed chord progression. We never quite know what to expect from it, but the perfect timing and ongoing pumping side-chain effect make it a familiar and welcome aspect of the track. The lead is complimented by a sweeping, luxurious pad that comes through in the middle section of the track. Even though it’s quite underlying, it takes over in a whole new way: attracting our attention and bringing the dance-club vibe together whilst also pulling some emotion from us with those deep, daring chords.

The drums are given a more productive role 4 minutes into the track when it all blends and builds together for the ultimate peak. before returning back to the welcomed original riff only for a more intense experience this time.

The producers have adapted and changed the track throughout resulting in a uniquely impressive vibe that clubs won’t be able to get enough of I’m sure! Check it out for yourselves below.
