ADMN – ‘Flaunt It’ EP

Anabatic Records close out 2014 with a top release from ADMN, who drops his first solo EP on Worthy’s label.

One half of Detroit-based duo Autoclave, with whom he released the ‘Ass N’ Kitty’ EP last year, ADMN follows up with some similarly raunchy material on his new ‘Flaunt It’ EP: dropping some of the dirtiest club tracks we’ve heard all year.

With the release already feeling support from the likes of Maya Jane Coles, Scuba, Âme, Tiga and more; the DJ and producer is being tipped as one of the hottest new talents on the international techno scene.

Opening groove ‘Dance Strutt’ is a crowd-mover with a grimy edge. With JH Allday on the vocals repeating “You can dance, you can fuck” amidst a purring four four beat and growling synths, there’s an element of filth amidst the track’s provocative melodics that appeal to the raver within.

Followed by the rather sleazy ‘Motorboat’, which was co-produced with Doug English, the pair launch in with raucous drums and sharp jabbing mids before gradually bringing Jen Ingersoll’s vocals into the mix. The first half is slightly underwhelming, but if you can sit through it you’ll be compensated with a tasty mid-track wind up that sees the duo utilise some neat drum patterns throughout the beat’s latter half.

Closing with the slightly more mellow ‘Break N Dana’, which is a deep and well thought out tune, ADMN ends the EP on a high note as compressed snares lick around surging melodics and well-placed vocal samples to build the groove up nicely. This is probably our favourite track on the release. Whilst it’s still very much club-appropriate, ADMN tones down the sexually-charged attitude present in the first two beats in favour of a straight-up smooth and groovy jam.
