Under This – ‘Take You Back’ EP (iBreaks)

London-based iBreaks – fast approaching its tenth year in the business – is getting ready to launch the ‘Take You Back’ EP by Latvian breaksters, Under This; returning to the label for the third time in 2013.

The 2-track EP, which features ‘Bulldozer’, in addition to the title track, will initially be made available exclusively from the label’s own website, iBreaks.co.uk, on September 24th, before it hits digital download stores on the official release date of October 1st.

“’Take You Back’ is a straight-up mixture of breaks, disco and acid, starting out with a jangly guitar line over punchy kicks and snares, before dropping into a hefty 303 line,” said a spokesperson at iBreaks HQ. “And what’s more, it works! Topped off with some looped vocals, this one’s peak time fodder to get the guys and girls moving!”

“On the flipside, ‘Bulldozer’ takes (as the name suggests) a more heavyweight approach, drawing on big beat and rave influences, with beefed-up breakbeats and low-slung, live-sounding bass,” they continued. “This one’s part Chemical Brothers, part Fatboy Slim (circa 1996) – bouncy and punchy, with a vocal that rides the beats perfectly. It’s one for doing damage to sound systems and setting parties right off!”

Ordinarily we would have probably reworked it a bit (hardly at all) and claimed that quote as our own but, quite honestly, we couldn’t have put it better if we’d hired Wordsworth and slipped him a pro plus.

We’re loving the enthusiasm – and the EP, for that matter…
