La Discothèque: Hercules & Love Affair on Sunday 30th April 2017

Disco lovers rejoice once more – La Discothèque is returning to Manchester’s Albert Hall on Sunday 30th April for a Bank Holiday spectacular.

Heading up the main room will be none other than Hercules & Love Affair, who will be performing an exclusive live set. For of you that don’t know (but, let’s face it you probably do)Hercules & Love Affair aren’t simply a band, they are a cast of performers whose sets are immersive, gripping and filled with sonic inspiration. Their 4th album showcases some darker, deeper sounds that will fill Albert Hall with a retro, yet futuristic and brooding disco ambience. If you’ve never seen them live before then this is an absolute must.

The NYC troop play alongside Jocelyn Brown, who can be heard on many of the greatest records of the disco era. She is the voice of classic groups like Musique, Inner Life, Change and many others and is the diva behind ‘Somebody else’s guy’. Today she is still one of the most sought after singers in the music business and we’re over the moon that she was able to set another date to perform live at Albert Hall.

Joining the bill is Nicky Siano, a pioneer of the dance music scene in the early seventies. He was the owner/designer/DJ of the legendary dance palace The Gallery, a club that inspired The Garage and Studio 54. He inspired and launched the careers of Grace Jones, D.C. La Rue, Loleatta Holloway, Larry Levan and Frankie Knuckles, to name a few.

Returning to La Discotheque is the reel-to-reel master & disco edits don Greg Wilson, whose set was one of the highlights of La Discotheque’s Launch Party back in November. Also thrown into the mix is The Reflex, who has taken remixes & edits to another level, as well as La Discotheque residents Luv Dancin’ et voila.

Stevie Wonderland, a celebration of all things disco will be hosting the VIP Bell Tower this time around with one hell of a line-up.

Gideön (NYC Downlow) is the co-founder of the infamous ‘homo disco’ that occupies a small, seedy corner of Glastonbury Festival’s south side and he’ll be joinined by Red Greg (You’re A Melody) AKA Darren Griffiths who’s highly regarded among disco and soul aficionados worldwide. Completing the line-up will be Jonny X and Stevie Wonderland friends + family.
