kris williams – a slow techno journey part 1

PeeQ Records kicks of its life with a six track release from British born Madrid based Kris Williams entitled A Slow Techno Journey Part 1. The producer is inspired by sound systems and weighty groove experiences and the music he makes is filled with cavernous spaces and enveloping bass. From Andy Stott to Conforce, his inspirations all get melted down into one fresh new sound as evidenced by this compelling new EP.
Up first, Comfort Zone is a slow and serene number with smooth bass and cosmic synth radiations that extend out into the sky. The title track Whale is then even slower, with huge gaps between the kicks really pulling you down into Kris’s aqueous and watery sound world. Glass tinkles and gentle waves brush by as you drift at the bottom of the sea. Love bombing is more direct and is a dubby house cut that is filled with deft sound design and aural beauty, then Falling Rope Standing is another heavenly and celestial mid tempo house groove with real spiritual feelings at its core. That Little Tremor gets back to ambient atmospheres and super slow motion grooves that feel more like undulating waves, then a 69 Stray Sect remix of Comfort Zone rounds things out in melodic, frazzled fashion. All in all this is an exquisitely design EP full of serious musical feels.
