AEON Showcase – UK Debut
Alex Niggemann
Midnight Operator (Mathew Jonson x Nathan Jonson) – UK Debut
Speaking Minds
Since putting out their first release in mid-2013, AEON has risen to notoriety faster than most labels would dare to dream of, and with a back-catalogue containing more famous names than the after party guest list for the Oscars. The label focuses heavily on a dark, brooding and techy sound which has become synonymous with label head Alex Niggemann’s sets.
The label has been a platform for many emerging artists such as Denis Horvat, Echonomist and Speaking Minds as well as an output for many of Alex’s own productions. And with remixes from industry staples likeMidnight Operator, Chymera, Locked Groove and Tobias, it’s very easy to see how the labels rise has happened so quickly.
Alex Niggemann needs no introduction to our parties, as this will be the 3rd time he’s played for us in just 13 months. Since his first performance for us at Oval Space in July last year it was hard to ignore the sheer talent Alex has behind the decks. He recently closed our party with KOLLEKTIV TURMSTRASSE with a 3 hour set that had the room packed till the lights came on.
From Boards of Canada to Bros, sibling musical duos over the years have enjoyed varying degrees of success, but for both Canadian brothers, Nathan and Mathew Jonson, already established and accomplished musicians in their own right, their coming together as Midnight Operator marks a musical relationship which fuses the analogue world of one to the digital realm of the other, synthesizing the incredible talents of both in the creation of something new and intense. This will be the duos first appearance in London. This live set is sure to turn a lot of heads.
Finally we welcome Speaking Minds, the Italian duo who have been causing quite a stir in recent years. Their release Yaoundé (AEON 0014D) helped skyrocket them to fame, add to that releases on My Favourite Robot and Musica Autonomica, plus a simply incredible remix of James Sison’s Napier Lake for Bade Records (BADE 004), and you’ve got some serious talent to keep an eye.
There will be an after party.
