Skepta – Shutdown

At the beginning of the week Skepta posted new single ‘Shutdown’ to his SoundCloud page, cementing Drake’s “truss mi daddi” in grime history forever.

On ‘Shutdown’ the Boy Better Know emcee samples a jokes Vine Drake posted earlier this year; responding to Drake’s having borrowed a line from ‘That’s Not Me’ on Lil Wayne’s new mixtape ‘Sorry For The Wait 2’.

Taken from Skepta’s forthcoming LP ‘#Konnichiwa’, ‘Shutdown’ is characterized by hefty, whirring production from Skepta and Ragz Originale. Speaking to The Fader, Skepta had this to say about the track: “We made about 7 different instrumentals to it but this one was the maddest […] Big up my bro Drake on the sample, trust me listen.”
