Silat Beksi – ‘8th Reality’ LP

Silat Beksi – ‘8th Reality’ LP

Mysterious vibes fill the air and intoxicate the listeners of Mulen Records latest release ‘8th Reality’. Appearing as an unknown artist to many, Silat Beksi has conjured up a storm and created a flash of lightning with this new album.

Beksi, who has previous releases with Mood 24 Records, tends to steer towards techno, experimental, deep beats which seem to be faster and more intense than some of the tracks on this new release.

8th Reality leaves words to the listener’s imagination as the only sounds that play from the speakers are the contagious, spell binding beats and powerful rhythm. When asked what inspires him, Beksi said: “My inspiration comes from the feelings and emotions born in me each day, there were a lot of days I spent working on the album.” He spoke about the name of the release 8th Reality, stating that “8th Reality is completely different space that has no boundaries; 8 is an inverted infinity sign.”

After speaking to Beksi, it was clear there was a deep meaning to the music and was intrigued by his interesting ideas and thought provoking concepts. You will catch the rhythm like a virus as you easily become enraptured by the mystical sounds of the release. A mixture of deep house and electro, this is perfect for those who like the music to hit them hard and make them feel lost in a world away from reality.

The first track ‘8th Release’ presents a mellow, relaxed vibe, however the album intensifies by track 4, ironically named ‘Growth’. This track displays are more up-beat sound which represents more of the labels previous releases.
Following on from this, track 6 ‘Core’ seems to have the most hard hitting, deep house beats which lock you in and drill you down.

For me, ‘Oriya’ is the best track on the album. It has a beautiful, melodic trance feel, yet is supported by the hard house beats we all know and love. ‘Oriya’ is very powerful and perfect for anyone who loves intense, deep house music. As the album draws to an end, ‘Sunrise’ is the last track to play, which as you expect by the title has a more relaxed, ‘end of the night’ rhythm and softer beats.

The release is definitely one of the labels most experimental, and in many ways it pays off. Silat Beksi has created an intriguing mix and the album certainly reflects the sense of ‘unknown’ which the label wanted to portray when they signed Beksi. The music speaks for itself and shows originality, making ‘8th Reality’ worth a listen. However, this will not be everyones kind of thing and it seems as though the artist wants to stick to a niche genre rather than commercialising their music for popularity.
