DJ Manfred – ‘Look At Me’

DJ Manfred (aka Manfredi Barbarossa) is all set to drop his new EP ‘Look At Me’ through Midi Mood Records. An upbeat house release featuring stunning vocals from Sanna Hartfield, this EP looks set to blow the doors off the closing raves of the summer!

Remix duties are supplied by three prominent producers: Moodymanc, known also as Dubble D and a representative of the 2020Soundsystem; Marcman, a talented producer from Romania who has published high-level releases on labels such as Moan, Bass Culture and Monique; and Tevo Howard, who is both an historic American DJ and representative of the most authentic Chicago house. With these three on the reworks, as it progresses ‘Look At Me’ moves through it’s original bouncy cut into deeper house vibes.

Marked with an elegant and suggestive old-school style, on the original cut of ‘Look At Me’ DJ Manfred offers up a perfect balance of vocals and melodics. Characterised by Sanna Hartfield’s strong vocal lead atop warm synth pads and rolling 4/4 percussion, the track moves forward with a fluidity and steadiness that allows the listener to fully appreciate her mesmerising tone whilst being simultaenously propelled forward by the up-beat rhythm.

On Tevo Howard’s remix he takes things in a more funky direction with tribalist-sounding drum work and a warbling, distorted synth pattern that gives the beat a somewhat exotic feel. Marcman delivers a rolling and heavily percussive remix which totally eclipses the original’s vocal elements, whilst Moodymanc comes through with a more full-feeling re-work as he fills out the original cut with additional drum work and propulsive mids.

Whilst the remixes on this EP take ‘Look At Me’ down the more traditional dance floor route, the original cut retains a fluidity between the vocals and the underlying beat that makes it a stand out track for all occassions: creating a high octane dance floor anthem that can be enjoyed both in the party and at home whilst cooking your tea! Set for release on Monday 25th through Midi Mood Records, don’t sleep on this one!
