There’s someone we want you to know about… if you don’t already know that is. Long gone out of the underground whispers is Manchester based Irishman Krystal Klear, who’s name by now should be ringing bells.
To start with his earlier mixes for XLR8R and FACT were as eclectic and varied as Yorkshire Tapas, more recently he’s gone back-to-back with Simian Mobile Disco for Rinse, done an absolute beast for Boiler Room and co-hosted with Skream on Radio 1; which was rather amusing, but again highlights why this man knows his music and is jumping in leaps and bounds.
The real stand out stuff though comes from his 2014 releases on his own imprint – Cold Tonic. Two personal favourites I can’t stop playing are Dance 74S and Squad, both pack a phenomenal punch with deep dark vibes that manage to switch effortlessly to disco near the finishing line, and both come highly recommended by The Noise Gate.
If that’s not enough there’s also his night Labour of Love, the most recent of which brought Jacques Greene to Manchester’s Soup Kitchen, and there’s a plethora of upcoming shows where you can catch him in Manchester including – Manchester Pride, the Zutekh Vs. TPOT Bank Holiday special and later in the year at the Warehouse Project.
But this only leaves us wondering… what’s next?
