Maor Levi & Norin Rad – ‘Pixel Hearts’ EP

Leading us into summer with a pair of energetic tracks and the optimistic promise of awesome times ahead, producers Moar Levi and Norin Rad bring the beats so we only have to bring the beer. With names like that, they were always destined to go places.

The more delicate of the two, ‘Pixel Hearts’ initially creates a softer tone through the falling pitches and delicate vocal input, but later launches into a powerful, melodious clash of sounds. It comes alive, the beat – a proper club beat, the kind that you feel thudding in your chest – lifting the song further and further until it reaches it’s crest and swings back down into the smoother tones again, still buoyed by the steady beat. It’s quite long, but is in no way monotonous so seems like the perfect length – and the perfect warm up for the next song, ‘Good Life’.

A sizzling summer tune, Levi and Rad team up with the talented Jack Miz to incite spontaneous dancing nationwide. It’s a little heavy on the sound effects, but certainly redeemed by a beat drop that would make even your nan wave her hands in the air like she just don’t care. I believe that vocals make a song a hell of a lot more interesting, especially when it’s a voice as flawless as that of Jack Miz, and so the song sets itself apart from the bare, beat-happy dubstep monstrosities that will probably become popular this season. The song is powerful, full of variety and glazed over with smooth, polished vocals, so get it on your iPod and warble the words out between Jägerbombs.
