During the last few weeks, in the throes of higher education assessment hell, I’ve barely had the spare time to play my cracked copy of flappy bird, let alone write a thoroughly engaging post for The Noisiest of Gates.
But in a revelatory moment that somewhat ironically made impossible the continuation of my music journalism studies, it was all I could do to open a fresh document in my cracked copy of Office 2003, and put pen to paper, figuratively speaking, on the monumental transpiration that Nero – they of the preposterously successful chain of dubstep bangers, not the admirably successful chain of coffee shops, nor even the widely popular multimedia software you can use to burn cracked copies of stuff – have released their first track since San Francisco Giants defeated the Detroit Tigers in game four to take the 2012 MLB World Series.
That’s right bass tribes, It’s been two years, three months and one day since those emperors of the electronic world, Nero, brought doomsday into our lives and judgment day for all to follow. Since then, we’ve been feeling just a little bit, well – unsatisfied.
True to form, just when you thought everything was going to pot in the dubstep community, Nero emerges; the empire rises, and your expectations follow.
‘Satisfy’ has all the familiarities of a Nero track – a classical entrance, seductive vocals and an invigorating hook. If the last album was a welcome reality, this is most definitely a welcome blast from the past.
I acknowledge that this review consists largely of extraneous drivel, with a relevant (though superbly-written – Ed) section of just 100 words, but that’s at least 40 more words than UKF could muster up, so eat my shorts, UKF. However, they have put together a banging list of top 10 Nero tracks, though. Jealous I didn’t think of it myself tbh…
Anyway, I’ll just leave you with this fact: in the 11 hours since Nero posted ‘Satisfy’ to Soundcloud, it’s been played 144,000 times.
