Juno and Shazam join forces

Shazayymm! Remember when you could test how cool you were by playing your favourite tracks to your friends and asking them to Shazam them knowing they had zero chance of success because your tracks are so rare and authentic? Well them days are over.

Shazam has announced their exclusive partnership with dance music store Juno. London-based Juno, the biggest of its kind, will add over 4 million dance tracks to Shazam’s extensive catalogue which IDs tracks on the fly for nearly half a billion users. This means you can search tracks and artists anytime and anywhere and download their tracks more easily from Juno in a perfect, harmonious loop of hear, Shazam, consume. Vice prez of music and content at Shazam, Will Mills, said, “vinyl music is seeing a resurgence in the industry, with sales at their highest in 15 years.” Guess we should be flattered by their enthusiasm to monetise our musical habits.

Juno backed up the figures saying that vinyl sales were up 20% this year and rising. The problem is now even the last real bastions on the underground will be full of iPhone wankers Shazamming the shit out of every song rather than the more traditional, outdated method of emersing yourself in the music and your surroundings.
