Free Tracks: A fresh set of hand-selected cuts free to download

This week’s Free Noise offering features a healthy balance between unsigned talent and household names.

Off Recordings celebrate reaching 55,555 Facebook followers by unleashing six tracks from “core artists” as well as acts looking to establish themselves through the label. The selection is so sample heavy it could easily feature in one of our Sample This! stories having lifted cuts from Kelis, Minnie Ripperton and ‘If This World Were Mine’ (originally written by Marvin Gaye) courtesy of man like Tapesh and Vanilla Ace amongst others.

The pick of OFF’s house buffet are probably deep house jam ‘The Wolf Chant’, by Chi Thanh, a disco track from Pavel Petrov in ‘Your Love’ and Simion vs. Kelis’ ‘Milkshake’. Slightly different to the usual format we promote, this six-shooter requires a like of the FB page to access this horde of booty.

Elsewhere we bring you priceless sounds from the underground with an off-key bass track from Sieren titled ‘Just Like’. Gated synths, dreamy vocals and syncopated drums are the backdrop for a crisp, fresh, thought-feeding cut ideal for window-gazing on a sunny, afternoon commute. ‘Carry Me’ is a liquid DnB track from Youngen. The poor fella’s lost a load of the project files he was working with but one man’s loss is another’s fortune as the flipside of that is he’s offering tracks like these up for free download.

Hush Recordz have put a free remix of Paulo de Carvalho track ‘Mãe Negra’ up this week. A tidy little mover from Mikalogic Anamorfose, it’s definitely worth a click. Things get a little darker next with a ranging, dubstep riddim from DyAD which we can only assume is a pseudonym for Cyberdyne Systems such is the mechanical, futuristic menace of The ‘Condemned’. Last up is a grime dubplate from WZ, himself celebrating 350 followers. Feels absurd to say the phrase ‘classic grime’ but with ‘Your Report’ lifting the lead from iconic Wiley banger ‘Morgue’ it has an unmistakable authenticity about it, harking back to the brutal sounds of yester-decade’s 140.
