TNG EXCLUSIVE: Rui Da Silva – ‘You Don’t Know Nothing’ (free download)

Swiftly following up the massive ‘Full Circle’ EP, which dropped in September to monumental acclaim and support from a legion of house & techno luminaries, including Maya Jane Coles and Sasha, no less, Rui Da Silva is getting ready to release yet another EP, this time entitled ‘Almost 2014’, featuring Easton Gunn and due on December 1st.

“So what the hell is this post doing in the New Releases section?!” I hear you cry… “It’s not even available for another two weeks!” Well, technically, the full EP isn’t, no, but don’t despair, because if you’re reading these words it means that Rui has officially released track 3 from the EP, ‘You Don’t Know Nothing’, free and exclusively via The Noise Gate. It’s a wondrous cacophony of lucid drums and unworldly synth effects, complete with a bassline that’ll test even the most robust sound system. Stream and download it from the player right here…

The remaining two tracks on the release will be kept under lock and key until December, but they certainly are going to be worth the wait, as you’ll be able to tell by listening to the previews on the Soundcloud player, below. Comprising two different remixes of ‘Feeling You’ – Mix 7 and Beats Mix 5 – they boast swaggering house grooves constructed from sharp and solid percussion, chunky basslines and darkly emotive atmospherics. Lyrics by Easton Gunn can be heard on Mix 7, heavily soaked in delay and reverb to produce a vocal that aims straight for the soul.

It’s not at all surprising that the same set of international stars that supported the ‘Full Circle’ EP had their ears pricked up for this release. So far it’s made its way into the sets of John Digweed, Nick Warren, Maya Jane Coles, Sasha, Tim Green, Shadow Child, Dubfire, Paulo Mojo, Danny Tenaglia and many others. Safe to say it’s a bit of a hit, then…
