Rave promoter, Jase Gallacher, working with underground music community Fnoob to host a 12-hour dance event at Mains Castle in Dundee next week, told The Evening Telegraph that the ancient building “had techno written all over it”.

In the first techno event ever to be held at the historic fortress, Fnoob DJs from all of Scotland’s major cities will take control of a colossal audio rig to entertain hundreds of ravers, spinning a genre of electronic music that Gallacher feels is under-represented in Scotland, with a lack of events despite widespread demand. He is hoping that the Mains Castle rave will be the first of a new wave of successful techno events in the country.

“We are trying to promote techno and get it out there. Lots of people are interested in it but not enough events are organised,” said Gallacher, who has been hosting music shows on Fnoob’s international techno radio station for the last seven months. “This will be a chance for people to meet up, have a party and meet others who love techno.”

Techno fans are expected to arrive from all over Scotland for the event, and dedicated buses are being deployed to transport partygoers hailing from Edinburgh and Glasgow. Many will be unsure exactly what to expect, since the 16th century castle is much more used to hosting weddings than raves.

The event will be held from 12.30pm on October 26th until 12:30am on the 27th. For more information, see the Facebook event page here.
