Morocco-born, UK-based electronic artist Yescene returns this summer with long-awaited EP ‘Lost and Found’, a collaboration project featuring the vocals of downtempo artist Noé Solange. This EP is the follow-up to Yescene’s recent deep house single ‘Chains’. Recorded in London over the second half of 2019, the 4-track extended play explores melancholic and dreamy melodies while keeping a chill, danceable vibe. Stepping outside the boundaries of his usual piano-driven house music productions, Yescene explores softer, slower rhythms and experimental sounds, with Noé’s soothing vocals providing an uplifting top line on each track.
“The songs in this EP all touch upon the notion of ‘being lost’, but not with the usual negative connotation—rather, with the side effect of being open to something new. With the exception of ‘To The Unknown’ where we had a rough draft, the other songs were all created by walking into the studio with no idea what we could come up with—a mix of collaboration and improvisation”.
While every song is rhythmically different, a central theme emerges—experimentation and fusion of acoustic and electronic instruments without the need to fit a pre-defined mood.
Signed to Swiss label Desu Records, headed by chillout artist Monodeluxe, the EP is slated for a remix package on New York City’s soulful house label Vibe Boutique Records later this year. Catch Yescene live in London at the Rocksteady Dalston on 2nd October.
