Watch FKA Twigs Video ‘Pendulum’ and Breath-Taking BRITs Performance

I meant to start this article making a reference to one of FKA Twigs’ trademark traits, but after a bit of a consideration, replay button-hitting and re-watching her magnificent performance at the BRITs Awards, I came to the conclusion that there is no one thing that can describe her on its own. Her fresh and quirky style needs a lot more to describe and is simply impossible to “brand” with a single mark, word or sentence.

This must be the reason why she has been nominated for not one but two awards for this years’ BRITs, hence for a Female Solo Artist and Best British Breakthrough Act, in which she will be battling some also strong competition. As a solo artist, the trip-hop miracle is in the strong female comapny of Ella Henderson, Jessie Ware, Lily Allen as well as Paloma Faith; furthermore, her breakthrough nomination is shared with names like Royal Blood, Sam Smith, George Ezra and Chvrches. If you have seen some names you’d like to support then click here to navigate the website, open for votes now.

Not to colour your decisions, but FKA Twigs’ performance as a nominee cannot be overlooked in this difficult choice the Brits have to make. From henna art, quirky hairstyles, through to purple light effects, contemporary dance and obviously immaculate music, the lady of the hour performs some of her biggest tracks: ‘Pendulum’ and ‘Hide’. If you have already seen the act then you definitely understand my excitement bleeding through this article. If you haven’t, please join me in my adoration for new talent. Take a look at FKA’s appearance at the Nominees show below!

You are welcome! If you’re already hooked, Young Turks (just as quirky and colourful) offer all sorts of interesting bits and pieces on her: from vinyls and videos to touring info. Furthermore, there is a new video she’s treating us to. Almost monochrome, the clip involves some more delightful randomness as liquid metal and hair-dancing.

Now excuse me, while I spend my Christmas money!
