As the strange times for the industry continue we thought it appropriate to shed some light on one of our favourite releases of the month of March. Miami based Typ3 Records delivered a 10 track compilation from label heads and affiliates of the imprint, including Franccesco Cardenas, Josh Wetherington, Jordan Gill and Willian Pires. The packed out release marks the annual WMC (Winter Music Conference) which takes place in Miami, a vital time in the industry calendar, and due to the circumstances of recent times this is also our payment of respect to the event which has been running since 1985, so this year would mark the 35th anniversary.
The compilation takes you on a whirlwind journey hopping around the sound spectrum, touching on progressive, melodic, deep house and techno sounds, meaning there is something for almost everyone here. Kicking off the feast for your senses is Mlinar with ‘Sonorous’ a dreamy affair, followed up by the creative flow of Josh Wetherington & Mr. Malone. ‘Alien Shorebreak’ taking it in a deep direction. The first techno number comes from Andrew Lewis with ‘Apache’, straight to the point throughout. Xavier Bakall’s ‘Am I Dreaming’ and Ucros’ ‘San Juan’ take you on a melodic trip, spiralling into a new sound space. Enoone provides an emotive and moving track in ‘Love 1’ flickering vocals make this a magical listen. Jordan Gill delivers ‘Waikatere’ alongside Willian Pires’ Whispers in My Ears’ two progressive quests, made for a big room dance floor. One of the label founders Franccesco Cardenas throws in ‘Only the Good Years’ a dark and touching encounter, before Michael Gin finishes off the piece with his laid back groove in Deep Purple.
A stand out release from the Miami based crew, inviting their friends to pay homage to the ever essential WMC, we look forward to see what the label brings next and WMC in 2021.
