Sadly we recently said goodbye to our online editor, Lloyd, who, though having left for pastures new, will continue to contribute to The Noise Gate as a valued freelancer.
Unfortunately, however, that means the task of producing the monthly Editor’s Podcast falls to me – Rob Hughes AKA Jimmy Chase. It’s a daunting prospect, to say the least. It’s not that I don’t think I can turn out some decent mixes, just that they invariably end up getting a bit complicated, and taking over my life for a couple of weeks.
I’m going to have to learn to simplify things a little bit for future podcasts, but in the meantime you’re getting some pretty sample-heavy stuff with a few bits of original material written along the way, including loops from my latest track, ‘Grey Goose & Hydro’ with a live bassline coming straight off Sylenth.
At the core though is s standard mix of some of my favourite tracks, though most of them have been re-edited in various ways for various reasons. There are a few fresh cuts in there, but also plenty of classics from recent months and years.
I’ve tried to include something for everyone – it goes from laid-back house to techy electro to that sound where techno meets solid house. There is quite a bit of chunky techno, but no gritty noise pollution, I promise! Some of the funkiest/happiest house tracks are at the end.
I realise I’m a bit late (or should I say early) in the day to be posting this but maybe it”ll arrive in time in time for some afterparties!
