The Noise Gate is honoured to bring you the latest EP by eclectic French producer, Priam.
In advance of its general release on Thursday, the ‘La Paz’ & ‘Koopa Clear’ EP is available right here to stream or download, below, exclusively and absolutely free, courtesy of Berlin-based label, Sureplayer Records.
Known for his diverse range of styles, Priam has released an array of multifaceted material over the course of the past two years, none of which has been easy to pigeonhole. Classic 4/4 beats are a regular fixture in his percussion, although it’s by no means Priam’s beat of choice, and the sounds that influence the remaining elements of his music hail from as broad a scope of genres as you could possibly imagine.
His latest work is a classic illustration of this philosophy, as Sureplayer’s Jean-Baptiste explains: “Despite his rather young age, Priam keeps on surprising us with his outrageously mature soundscapes and analog attitude.
“With its cosmic synth arpeggio driving you through a miscellany of spaces, ‘La Paz’ is a variation on a Columbian urban adventure theme, where fear meets wonder, and Evo Morales teams up with Rick Deckard to save the Andes from a mysterious peril.
“When you level up, ‘Koopa Clear’ will rekindle your 16-bit memories: vintage steel drums and a cliff-hanging chord progression, both fuelled by a swingy, distorted 909 jam. That’s right – you’re at Super Mario’s rave.”
We couldn’t possibly have put it any better…
