Benjamin Fehr and Falko Brocksieper combine to form The Result, breathing life back into Catenaccio with two tracks that rack up a whopping 32 minutes of run time.
The self entitled, Endeavour is a repetitive journey that does little to change its core formula, and instead works on implementing subtle elements of engaging sound. It’s dark, techy and littered with industrial clangs that are drenched in haunting reverberations that do well to inject life into the track. The occasional distortion on the bass line is the real star here, sometimes working for a whole bar, sometimes for just a beat, it re-energises the track all the way up to the sedative wind down pads, proving less is more in this progressive style of techno.
Alias of Your Mind is a completely different story. Off the back off the A’s soothing close, the B strikes with some unsettling noise that eases down to ambience after a few minutes. The track is completely beat-less, and experiments with contrasting sonic frequencies over a subtle TV static noise. I imagine it would be a pretty special experience to hear this one when walking into a club at doors, the oscillating low ends fluctuate slowly in an unsettling, yet welcoming way.
At first glance two 15 minute tracks undoubtedly seems intimidating, and although neither really do much to reinvent nor revolutionise, they venture deeper into their means than any 4 minute track ever could. Not to mention they’re top coverage for any mid-set toilet breaks.
