Tectonic Sound Presents: Toyboy & Robin

Tectonic Sound Presents: Toyboy & Robin

Tectonic Sound is back with a bang for 2014 as they return to Fez Club to present another Sheffield debut, Toyboy & Robin, on January 24.

Establishing themselves as an indispensable force in the Sheffield dance scene, their concept was brought to life in 2013 with parties featuring Gorgon City and Friend Within. Tectonic Sound’s philosophy is all about showcasing the most talented breakthrough artists who have never been seen before in Sheffield and their next event is no different as they stage another Steel City first.

Toyboy & Robin have quickly emerged as London’s fast rising producer duo who have been contagiously uniting the sounds of house music with the sounds of bass, garage and everything in between.

Gaining momentum early last year with their release of ‘No More Sunshine’, Toyboy & Robin are admired for their love of Garage and 90’s Hip-Hop and R&B. However, summer 2013 was the real turning point for the duo when they released ‘Jaded’, a truly infectious track mixed with frenetic tempos, flailing hi hats and skittering vocal samples.

The boys have also done some highly acclaimed remixes for major artists such as Lana Del Rey, Ellie Goulding & Example, not to mention receiving support from taste-makers such as Toddla T & Cameo across the airwaves, alongside the boost of having Bondax splashing their two-step rhythms onto to dance floors around the globe.

All of these factors combined has led to their signing to Chase & Status’ MTA imprint, and with a single and EP expected to drop in the first quarter, Toyboy & Robin look set to well and truly make their mark on 2014.

TNG caught up with the duo ahead of the event and they could hardly contain their excitement.

They said: “After having Christmas off, we’re super excited to get back into the swing of things. Having not played Sheffield before we’re really looking forward to playing for Tectonic Sound and seeing what “Steel City” has to offer, the North always throw a great party!”

Joining them will be Sheffield’s own DJ and production trio, Denham Audio. These three have been storming their way through the Sheffield dance scene and with support on their productions from Route 94, Dirtybird first lady J.Phlip and Goldffinch to name a few, they’re certainly a great addition to the lineup.

Speaking with them ahead of Tectonic Sound they said: “We’re really looking forward to playing some of our new material, Sheffield is always a great crowd and Fez is definitely one of our favourite venues to play at.”
Also on the bill are Jayskilatah and Tectonic Sound residents, Tippa and Ben Earley. After the success of the previous two events, this one is looking to be even bigger.

Tickets are available from Party For The People and Skiddle. See you on the dancefloor!
