New dance outfit Soultrak are set to drop their debut release ‘The Girl’. Coming out on the legendary Bloxblox Records, founded by Brandon Block and now part of the expansive Krafted Music group, Soultrak deliver a knockout bundle of deep house and techno for your listening pleasure. Alongside the pair’s original mix of ‘The Girl’ come huge reworks from big name Ibiza and UK DJ/producers Alan Prosser, Stefan Kaye, Lee Williams, Zac Cawdron and Tom Frankel.
Paul Sawyer and Paul Moore, the two faces behind Soultrak, are no strangers to the world of electronic production. Following numerous individual releases on various labels, between them the pair have accrued some seriously heavy weight credentials within the dance world. Paul Moore, co-promoter at Bournemouth based club night Special Branch, is well immersed within underground house as both a DJ and producer and brings his own flavour to the collaboration. His Soultrak partner in crime, Paul Sawyer, brings over 20 years experience within the electronic music industry to the table. Well-versed in the nuances of house and techno, their combined styles and technical skills come together in new release ‘The Girl’: a dreamy deep house tune with a fine techno edge.
Soultrak’s original mix opens with dreamy synths and a tapping, syncopated snare. The track is built up gradually, with the synths ebbing and flowing until the drop hits at around a minute and a half. The mysterious girl from the title is introduced to the listener through vocal clips which set the scene: ’She takes me by the hand, and i don’t see her face, not sure how I got to the beautiful place.’ Bringing in a hefty four to the floor kick drum alongside funky melodies and introspective, questioning vocals that ask ‘How did I meet you and what is your name? How did I get here?’, Soultrak conjure that wondrous lost-in-the-moment feeling epitomised by the notion of ‘living for the weekend’ and dancing away your workaday frustrations. Between them the pair wind together a tasty morsel of euphoric deep house, promising to satiate any need to escape from the weariness of everyday life with an immersive groove and compelling beat.
For the first remix internationally renowned DJ and producer Alan Prosser takes the track slightly more uptempo, infusing it with sounds laden with tropical imagery as well as building up some solid drum work. Stefan Kaye delves deep into the tech-house side of things; constructing a groovy rhythm through his remix, building up the bass line and adding to the percussive elements of the original beat. Lee Williams delivers a full-on techno belter, whilst Zac Cawdron gets a little bit funky with his re-edit. Rounding off with a remix from Tom Frankel, whose name has been appearing all over the London and Ibiza clubbing scene over the past few years, the release finishes on a slightly gritty groove which boosts up the bass factor and introduces a few wiry mids alongside the original’s belting kick drum and syncopated snares.
Bloxblox’s 39th release, Soultrak’s debut release ‘The Girl’ marks the start of a new chapter for the label. Delivering a neat package with the original track plus remixes from Alan Prosser, Stefan Kaye, Lee Williams, Zac Cawdron and Tom Frankel, the release takes the listener on a journey through the variants of deep house, tech-house and techno, offering up a selection of euphoric party anthems to be best enjoyed whilst losing yourself to the beat in the early hours of a Sunday morning. With an exclusive official release on Beatport set for August 13th, and general release on the 27th, fortunately there’s not too long to wait! Until then, check out the SoundCloud preview below.
