If you’re looking for something to do while stuck at home, fear not, because Nintendo Switch just released Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The internet has been all abuzz about the release of such a beloved game, and Shawn Wasabi was right there with them. Life-long video game enthusiast and the internet’s favorite weird kid made a song dedicated to the game. Bringing in pop-infused vocals from Sophia Black, who’s worked with the likes of Katherine McPhee and rapper Kyle, the two created a song that’s just as addictive as the game. The song transports listeners into their own tropical island escape with its infectious hooks and sweet melodies, not to mention fitting 8-bit sound effects.
“ANIMAL CROSSING” is the second release in two weeks from Wasabi, following his latest “HOME RUN”, a food-inspired track that’s a flavorful fusion of collaborators Raychel Jay, Hollis, Brandon Colbein, and icon Justin Tranter. Like everyone else right now, Wasabi’s at home cooking up videos on TikTok, gaining notoriety with his Midi-Fighter adaptation of Beethoven’s “Fur Elise.” The video immediately took off on the platform, reaching 500k views on the first day.
We’ll be soundtracking Nintendo’s Animal Crossing with Shawn Wasabi’s ANIMAL CROSSING this weekend.
