Secret Solstice Midnight Sun Festival

Secret Solstice Midnight Sun Festival

Music fans looking for a once in a lifetime opportunity this summer should set their sights towards Iceland and the launch of the first Secret Solstice Midnight Sun Festival.

The festival will be held in Reykjavik, the most northernly capital city on the planet, from the 20th to the 22nd of June. With it’s unique location close to the Arctic circle and presenting over 130 über-cool, international acts, including top drawer headliners such as electronic duo, Massive Attack, darlings of deep house Disclosure, head of Hot Creations, Jamie Jones and hip hop supremo Schoolboy Q, ticket holders are set to experience an event like no other.

The ‘Midnight Sun Festival’ surrounds the Arctic region’s summer Solstice, meaning the sun literally won’t set for 3 days. Festival goers will bear witness to a spectacular natural light show as the sun arcs through the sky consistently for 72 hours against the beautiful backdrop of ‘Laugardalur’, the area’s Hot Springs Valley.

The concept is set to suit music fans down to the ground and there will be plenty raving under the Arctic sun with revered DJ’s such as Carl Craig, Damian Lazarus, Eats Everything, Waze & Odyssey, Josh Butler and Mia Dora spinning the soundtrack to one of earth’s most astounding astrological events against an equally breathtaking landscape.

If raving away consistently for 3 straight days of sunlight requires a break, then what better way to relax than to sink into one of the volcanic, geothermal rock pools on site. It’s hard to envision anything more rewarding and therapeutic during the course of a weekends hard partying than melting into a steaming hot, magma powered pool or trekking off through the tranquil wilderness to go gaze in wonder at the magnificent, cascading waterfalls nearby.

The Icelandic people are very proud of their rich Viking Warrior heritage and Secret Solstice organisers have adopted a Norse theme throughout. With mythologically named stages such as ‘Valhalla’ – resting place of fallen heroes -and ‘Hel’ -Goddess of the underworld – it’s easy to see why as the Midnight Sun Festival is well on its way to quickly attaining legendary status. Revellers should get set to give thanks to the great Odin and his festival of light by ritualistically dancing, jacking and grooving to earth-shaking beats and basslines, in front of thunderous speaker rigs.

Reykjavik is affordable and easily accessible from most major airports and on-site camping is available. The opportunity to partake in this unique event with it’s unspoiled scenery, 72 hour solar display and the sounds of some of the hottest and most respected electronic, hip-hop and live artists on the scene is set to draw movers, shakers and tastemakers from across the globe, so music fans take note. do yourself a favour…. Strike now – like the hammer of Thor- and snap up your tickets , before the secret gets out!
